I had never seen a Clary Sage blossom before I purchased a small plant at an herb festival. The plants are about 3 feet tall and have multiple blossoms. They have seeded themselves in my garden and now their population must be kept down. Since it is a biennial, it took 2 years for the Clary Sage to blossom and it was worth the wait. I love unusual flowers and this qualifies. It looks very otherworldly to me with little creatures emerging from their nests and blossoms emerging from blossoms. What do you think that it looks like?
All of these photos were taken with my Trioplan 100mm lens and processed in Lightroom and Photoshop. This last photo is a blossom as it is beginning to open. The color is more intense when it first opens and then it fades to lighter blues and lavenders.
